Diary of a Studio Owner

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
Between a number of interviews that are in various states of disarray and a basement that’s desperately begging for some remodeling, I was unable to put together an article this weekend for Songs and Sonics. BUT… I have a link to an unbelievably rich web site that should make any musician drool:
Diary of a Studio Owner
In the seventies and eighties, there was a world-class studio in New England called Long View Farm. Gilbert Scott Markle hosted the biggest names of the day there, and does a fantastic job at describing those sessions.
It could take days to read through the entire site. I know, because I already have! So here are three gems to get you started:
  • Stevie Wonder at the “Songs in the Key of Life” release party (All ’70s Stevie Wonder fans must watch the video at the end of the article!)
  • Cat Stevens recording his final album under that name
  • Tattoo Me (The Rolling Stones invade a small farm town.)
  • Enjoy!
