The first new Optigan disc in 34 years… and a quick update
OK, I’m about three weeks late to the party, but I discovered via YipYop.com (a blog by Twink’s Mike Langie, who has been previously featured on Songs and Sonics) that Pea Hix of Optiganally Yours (who has also been featured on Songs and Sonics) has made the first new Optigan disc in 34 years!
OK, so what does that mean? Well, this is quite an amazing accomplishment if you’ve spent some serious time reading Pea’s amazing web site about this bad-sounding, lo-fi home organ. This is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest for lo-fi gadget junkies.
Check out the video demo:
More information can be found over at Pea’s Optigan blog.
A quick update about the lack of updates. Girls Aliens Food has been released to some fantastic reviews. The Really Really Weird remix contest is in the final stretch — the deadline for entries is November 30, 2008.
And I’m remodeling my recording studio — this was my fall 2007 project and I’m now just starting to complete it. Between the album, the blog, and real life, I’ve not made as much progress on the studio as I’d like… until now. Once the studio is up and running again, I’ll start posting more regularly.
